Lovisa Of Sweden

Princess Lovisa/Louise of Sweden (1851-1926) was the only daughter of King Carl XV and Queen Lovisa of Sweden Lovisa married Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark in 1869 and eventually became Queen of Denmark in 1906 as Frederik's consort. The couple had 8 children (please see the page for regarding King Frederik VIII) As Lovisa's parents did not have any male heir to their thrones of Sweden and Norway, these thrones were "lost" to Carl XV brother, Oscar II. However, it has been said that Carl XV entrusted Lovisa during his deathbed that an eventually male son of Lovisa would be entitled to be the heir of the Norwegian throne. (even though this was Carl XV idea, it is not necessary correct). Lovisa's son, Prince Carl, did in fact eventually became king og Norway. However, this event was due to the split between the union of Norway and Sweden in 1905 and not due to Carl XV's way of reading the Norwegian constitution.
