Love Boat

For the television show, see The Love Boat. The Overseas Chinese Youth Language Training and Study Tour to the Republic of China is a three month summer program for about 500 college-age overseas Chinese, which is much more commonly known among its participants as the Love Boat. In Chinese it is also colloquially referred to as mei-jia-ying (美加英) - an acronym of United States, Canada, United Kingdom whence most of the participants originate. The study tour is sponsored by the China Youth Corps of the Republic of China government. The camp's formal purpose is to teach the participants about Chinese culture and language, however the intention of the parents who send their sons and daugthers to the tour is largely so that they meet other eligible overseas Chinese, from which the program gets its nickname.
