Louis Godin

Louis Godin (February 28, 1704 - September 11, 1760) was a French astronomer. Godin was a member with Charles Marie de La Condamine and Pierre Bouguer of the expedition sent to Peru in 1735 to determine the length of a degree of the meridian in the neighbourhood of the equator. After completion of the survey he became professor of mathematics at Lima, and took measurements of the earthquake there in 1746. In 1751 he returned to Europe and became president of the College for midshipmen in Cdiz. In 1755 he took measurements of the Lisbon earthquake. Godin Godin Godin
