Lou (Singer)

German pop singer and Eurovision participant Lou was born on October 27 1963. She was the sixth child of her parents and was immediately surrounded by her first fans, her elder brothers and sisters. The happy-go-lucky, orange-haired singer has toured with her band for over 15 years, in Germany as well as abroad, and in 2003 she won the right to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Riga. Lou had already proved her talents at the 2001 Eurovision national finals by coming in third with a mid-tempo rock number before millions of TV viewers. Shortly before Christmas 2002, composer Ralph Siegel asked her if she would be interested in competing in the national finals again with a song he had written with lyricist Bernd Meinunger. After hearing Lets Get Happy, Lou was totally enthusiastic: "This is just my kind of song - and besides, its my lifes motto...!" Her March 7 win in the 2003 national finals allowed her to realize her dream to represent Germany at the international level. In the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 she earned an 11th place.
