Thaumatichthyidae The Lophiiformes are a large and diverse order of ray-finned fish, also called the Pediculati. Many forms, generally called anglerfishes, have distinctive lures, small projections on the forehead used to attract prey. Benthic forms have arm-like pectoral fins which the fish use to walk along the ocean floor. The order contains 18 families, which include the following:
