Area: 1,270 ha.
Altitude: 44 m
History
The place was first mentioned in
1071
, as "Lohes". The village was entirely destroyed in
1917
. During
World War I
the town was recaptured in October
1915
by
British
forces from the
Germans
with tremendous losses.
