Each version of the single is covered by photographs of Embrace fans. These were taken at various gigs and signings, or sent in by the fans, during late 2004. Each single version shows different fans. The band's website said on 10.01.2005 that this was done "as a thank you to fans for their support over the years".

The title of Soldiers Hours also appears in the lyrics for Flaming Red Hair ("You've got me working soldier's hours, though I do it for myself"), a b-side to their single Ashes
