London Action Resource CentreThe London Action Resource Centre(LARC) is a collectively run building providing space and resources including; offices, computer and internet facilities, roof garden, library, banner-making space, and meeting rooms for individuals and groups taking direct action on social and ecological issues, or enagaging in other radical projects. LARC was conceived as an idea by a group of friends in 1999. Most had a history of involvement in direct action throughout the nineties as part of the anti-roads movement, and Reclaim the Streets. After the Carnival against Capitalism June 18th 1999 the group came to feel that one-off spectacular actions weren't enough to build the 'creative alternatives' which were often talked about in propaganda. Creating a permanent space that would not suffer eviction was seen as important. LARC is in Whitechapel, in the East End of London, an area with a long history of radical and anarchist activity.
