Logic Express

In computers, Logic Express 7 is a program for music production developed by Apple and based on Logic Pro 6. Apple announced its existence on 15 January 2004 and planned to release it in March 2004. Students and teachers are Apple's intended buyers of the software (Apple Computer, Inc., 2004b). Logic Express is designed to include a limited set of professional features at a low cost. Notable features include at least twenty-eight effect plug-ins and sample-based software instruments; support for forty-eight tracks of audio; twelve input channels; and sample rates of up to 96 kHz (Apple Computer, Inc., 2004b). In addition, it features three software synthesizers (Apple Computer, Inc., 2004a). The retail price of Logic Express 6 is expected to be 299 USD (Apple Computer, Inc., 2004b). According to Apple (as cited in Apple Computer, Inc., 2004b), Logic Express' user interface was designed to be similar to that of Logic Pro 6, to make it easy for users to use both programs. A couple of years prior to the announcement of Logic Express, Apple took over a company called Emagic. Logic Express is an effect of that takeover (Sharma, 2004).
