Livery Dole
is a street and
crossroads
in the
Heavitree
area of
Exeter
in
Devon
,
England
. It is the site of the old
almshouses
(founded
1591
) and was a place of execution until
1531
. People were executed there for crimes such as
murder
or
witchcraft
. Although the almshouses are still standing the area is now a place of bustling modern commerce.
