Lincoln Highway (Australia)

Lincoln Highway links Port Augusta and Port Lincoln, both located in South Australia. It was formerly designated as National Route Alternate 1 and is currently B100. The highway runs along the eastern coast of the Eyre Peninsula. The biggest major town in between is the steel town of Whyalla. The highway passes through hot and arid saltbush-covered terrain. However it connects with coastal towns like Cowell and Arno Bay which have good fishing spots. As it heads southwest towards Port Lincoln, the scenery gets greener. Port Lincoln itself is a prosperous fishing port and an important grain terminal serving the Eyre Peninsula wheatbelt. Japanese demand for freshest tuna made many of the fishermen millionaires.
