Like A Velvet Glove Cast In Ironright Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron is a graphic novel written by Daniel Clowes. It follows a rather fantastic and paranoid story line, very different from the stark realism of Clowes' Ghost World. While not in the least pornographic, it contains some disturbing content not for the faint of heart. Its the story of a guy who sees his ex-wife in a strange and surreal "porn movie". Somehow he has to find her and find out what has happend to her and why she left him. In his psychedelic journey to find her he meets a religious cult lead by a mass-murderer, a strange conspiracy and its psycko followers plus other freaks and other sidestories. The whole journey is like a nightmare that will not end. This comic is full of details drawn in black and white. Basically it's the story of the never ending search for happiness ( whatever that is ).
