Lighting Efficiency

right Lighting efficiency is a measure of how much visible light is given off from a lighting source per unit of energy. It is measured inlumens per watt (lumens/watt). Energy not converted into visible light is radiated as heat, or at the ends of the visible spectrum as UV or IR.
  • 005 lumens/watt Incandescent tungesten filament at 007 watt (night light)
  • 010 lumens/watt Incandescent tungesten filament at 100 watt (room light)
  • 020 lumens/watt Incandescent halogen at 100 watt (T3)
  • 020 lumens/watt Light emitting diode at 3 watt (white)
  • 050 lumens/watt Flourescent compact at 12 watt
  • 060 lumens/watt Flourescent at 32 watt (F40T12} cool white
  • 070 lumens/watt Flourescent at 32 watt (T8)
  • 150 lumens/watt Sodium low pressure
