Leuna

Leuna is a city with a population of about 6000, located in Saxony-Anhalt in eastern Germany. It is the center of the German synthetic chemical industry. During the World War II, the city and its surrounding chemical industry were repeatedly the target of heavy aerial bombardments. Although its 1960 population was nearly 10000, poor living conditions, including pollution have prompted something of a migration from Leuna.
