Leuku

Leuku is a Finnish word for a knife used mostly be Lappish people, Saami. It has long, wide and strong blade that is more suited for hitting than cutting, so it does not suit well for whittling. It is used instead of an axe for fire wood, bonebraking and other works. Blades geometry is often convex or flat grind, this gives blade more toughness. It is a excellent outdoor tool for bushcrafting. Saami use normally two knifes and the smaller one can be called Puukko since it's is so close to Finnish Puukko. Saami call this knife:"Unna-niibas" and the bigger, the Leuku:"Stuorra Niibas".
