Len (Province)

Len is a province of northwestern Spain, in the northwestern part of the autonomous community of Castile and Len. It is bordered by the provinces of Zamora, Ourense, Lugo, Asturias, Cantabria, Palencia, and Valladolid. About one quarter of its population of 496,655 (2002) live in the capital, Len. See List of municipalities in Len. There is a movement that believes that Len should become its own autonomous community. The province shares the Parque Nacional Picos de Europa (in the Picos de Europa mountain range) with Cantabria and Asturias. See Kingdom of Len.
