Leksands If

Leksands Idrotts Frening is a Swedish sports team from the town of Leksand in the region of Dalarna. One of the most popular teams throughout Sweden because of their succesful icehockey team and the fact that the town of Leksand only have 6,000 inhabitans. Despite the small population Leksand has played in the highest hockey division Elitserien from 1951 until 2001 and is thereby the club with most consecutive seasons in the highest division. Leksand is now, after a two year return in Elitserien 2003-04, once again playing in Allsvenskan (2nd division). The club was formed in 1919 and the first hockey game was played in 1938.
