Learning And Skills Council

The Learning and Skills Council is a government body in the United Kingdom which is responsible for planning and funding further education (post-16 education and training other than higher education) in England. It was established in April 2001 and as of 2004 has a budget of 8 billion. It replaced Training and Enterprise Councils and the Further Education Funding Council. It is funded by the Department for Education and Skills, but retains some independence.
