Larsen B ice-shelf
was a geographical feature of
Antarctica
. It was named after
Canadian
Arctic
explorer
Henry Larsen
. During January 31st to March 7th, 2002 the ice-shelf collapsed and broke up. The collapse was almost certainly a result of
global warming
. Approximately 3,500 square kilometers of ice broke off.
