Laponia Ranger Regiment

Laponia Ranger Regiment, or Lapplands jgarregemente, also I 22, is a Swedish Army infantry regiment, one of the few new formations raised in the 20th century. It was disbanded in 2000.

History

The regiment traces its origins from the Norrbotten Regiment skiing battalion that became the Army Ranger School in 1945. The school was reorganized into the Laponia Ranger Regiment in 1975, with the designation I 22 (22nd Infantry Regiment). It was garrisoned in Kiruna and was disbanded in 2000.
