Lakewood, Zamboanga Del Sur

Lakewood is a municipality in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the Philippines. Lakewood was named after the lake intersecting the town. The most popular species of fish in the province can only be caught in the lake; the carpa and porang. The lake is one of the cleanest in the country. The Subanen tribe is the major ethnic group living in suburban areas; they cultivate vegetables and corn for their own use. Subanens have their own dialect, but they also known to speak Cebuano as a common dialect for conversation. However, most of the Subanen today travel abroad to earn more income and eventually adopt a modern urban lifestyle. Barangay Tubod is the biggest barangay of the town and its name derives from the Cebuano term tubod which means "spring". Barangay Tubod serves as an entrance to the town and is the most populated barangay of Lakewwod; it has a hospital, the Singidas Medcal Clinic. The clinic is regarded as the cleanest hospital of the town. The Lilys hiiden Spring of the upper part of the tubod and Mainit waterfall of the lower part of Gatub are among Lakewood's tourist attractions.
