lake claire

Lake Claire is a neighborhood in eastern Atlanta, Georgia of approximately 1200 homes. It is entirely in the DeKalb County side of the city, near Candler Park, Kirkwood, and Druid Hills. It borders the Eastern Continental Divide in the Gulf of Mexico drainage. The name Lake Claire derives from the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Claire Drive. There never has been a lake named Claire in the neighborhood. In the 1910s a small artificial Lake Ponceana was formed along Lakeshore Drive; within a few years it was drained due to mosquitos.
