Ladder Bay, Saba, NaLadder Bay is an amazing anchorage on the leeward side of Saba. It sits directly under the 800 steps to the old custom house perched precariously on the lip of a cliff over looking the bay and is locally know as The Ladder. Ladder Bay is difficult to distinguish from the shore line. Prior to the opening of the road down to Fort Bay, this was the primary point of entry for supplies to the island. Since the bay is rather small, it might be better be described as a small cove. To the west, the Saba Marine Park manages about half a dozen moorings that are in about 60 of water. Anchorages The holding is good in a dark sand bottom in about 30 of crystal clear water. The bottom is fairly flat in the bay, however; beware of large rocks on the bottom and closer to shore. The bottom drops sharply from the bay so be sure your anchor is set well. High gusts can make their way from Wells Bay to the north. Remember the bottom drops sharply to well over 300 about half a mile from here. DO NOT ANCHOR OUTSIDE WELLS OR LADDER BAY!
