La Trobe University

La Trobe University is a multicampus university with campuses in Bundoora (about 16000 students), Bendigo (about 5000 students), Albury-Wodonga (about 2000 students) and minor campuses at Mildura, Shepparton, Beechworth and Mount Buller. The University was established in 1967 as Melbourne's third university, after the University of Melbourne and Monash University, at what is now the Bundoora Campus. As a result of the higher education reforms of the late 1980s, it amalgamated with the Bendigo College of Advanced Education and Wodonga Institute of Advanced Education to acquire a range of regional campuses. In 1988 the Lincoln Institute for Health Sciences merged with La Trobe University. See herefor greater detail. La Trobe University is named after Charles La Trobe. The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs from the Faculties of Science, Technology & Engineering; Health Sciences; Humanities & Social Sciences; Law & Management; and the Bendigo-based multidisciplinary Faculty for Regional Development. La Trobe University is a member of Innovative Research Universities Australia (IRU Australia).
