Kreis Wongrowitz

One of several Kreise (English: counties) in the northern administrative district of Bromberg, in the Prussian province of Posen. Polish: Wągrowiec; renamed by Nazis to Eichenbrck.

Military command

Kreis Wongrowitz was part of the military command (German: Bezirkskommando) at Gnesen, which was the garrison of the 49th Infanterie regiment (6th Pommersches) of the 8. Inf. Brigade. Created May 5, 1860 and the 12th Dragoner regiment (2nd Brandenburgisches) of the 4. Kav. Brigade. Created Sept. 27, 1866

Court system

The main court (German: Landgericht) was in Gnesen, also Bromberg and Schneidemhl, with smaller courts (German: Amtsgericht) in Wongrowitz (LG=Genesen), Exin (LG=Bromberg) and Margonin (LG=Schneidemhl).

Police districts

Police districts (German: Polizeidistrikt) were administered from the towns of Gollantsch, Lekno, Mietschisko, Schokken, and Wongrowitz.
