Kort Kramer

Kort Kramer (born 1971) is a graphic artist and photographer. He is the eldest son of two New York City natives, Paul and Audrey Kramer. An Air Force brat, Kort had the opportunity to tour the world in his youth. These colorful adventures included stays in Germany, Italy, Hawaii, Okinawa, Korea, Thailand, and Hong Kong. He also lived stateside in Virginia, Louisiana, and resides currently in South Florida. Immersion in myriad cultures helped to spark his creative fires and exploration the universal motifs that reveal themselves in a variety of artistic forms throughout the world. At Kadena High School in Okinawa Japan, he took Art Studio for his last three years under the tutelage of Ruth Ann Gold, a talented watercolorist. He explored different styles and media from acrylic paint to photography. As a fine arts major at the University of Florida, he continued to nurture his creativity and experimented with a wide variety of media including digital art. After graduating with a BFA in 1993, he moved to Jacksonville, FL where he was employed as a staff photographer for the newspaper Clay Today. Later, he worked in the art department of Gallo Pewter, brainstorming product ideas and preparing original art for casting.

Even though these job experiences enabled Kort to become a more rehearsed artist, he yearned to expand his professional repertoire. In 1996 he attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and earned a degree in Graphic Design. Upon graduation, he was hired by PDI Communications Inc., a Cable & Satellite TV supplier company, as a graphic designer. Kort is involved with all aspects of their advertising and marketing from the creation of magazine ads to the designing of product catalogs. He currently holds the position of PDI's Art Director and oversees all printed and web material the company produces. He lives in Boca Raton with my wife Lisa, son Connor, and daughter Kyra. Kort was an early adopter of the 3D program Bryce and has been incorporating elements produced in the program into his artwork since 1997. This 3D program is a big reason why he merged from the traditional art realm into the digital arena. The worlds he created in "cyberspace" fascinate him and inspire him to explore his creativity in this forum. Kort's recent interests include studies in Fractals and Sacred Geometry. They appeal to both his artistic verve and intellectual (and technical) curiosities. He has been a big science fiction & fantasy fan for most of his life. Many of the motifs associated with these genres reveal themselves in his art. Kort's fascination with world mythologies and folklore initiated an interest in fantasy art. All of the Air Force jets and military vehicles that were an big part of his childhood environment unleashed the science-fiction buff in him as well. Being a voracious reader of mythology, fantasy, horror and sci-fi also helped to stimulate his creative impulses towards the fantastical. Recently, he renewed his passion for photography and most of his recent work is in that arena. Kort is among the select group of photogrpahers chosen to be part of the Photo-Genesis website.
