Kookmin Bank Fc

Kookmin Bank FC was a founding member of the K-League, but spent only two seasons in the league before dropping back down to the amateur ranks. The club finished 5th out of the five teams in 1983, and when it came in 8th out of the eight teams the following year the decision was made to return to the amateur ranks. Kookmin Bank had previously been successful in the Korean Amateur Football Conference (1978) and the President's Cup (1973, 1983) prior to joining the K-League, and still managed President's Cup successfully in (1986, 1990, 1995, 2003) after dropping out of the league. The club moved to Goyang and rebranded itself as Goyang Kookmin Bank entering the newly founded K2 League of which it won the inaugural competition in 2003 and then retained the title in 2004.
