Knysna

Knysna (say: nace-nuh) is a town in the Western Cape, South Africa, 34 degrees south of the equator. It is 72 kilometres from the town of George. The town is primarily built on the northern shore of a large warm water natural lagoon that is fed from one end by the Knysna River and by the sea, through the Knysna Heads (two natural rock formations at the lagoon entrance) at the other. Near to The Heads are geological formations known locally as "The Map Stones". The town is a popular retirement location, not just for South Africans but also for British senior citizens, due to the year-round warm climate.
