Kitzbhler Alpen

The Kitzbhler Alpen are a mountain range surrounding Kitzbhel in Austria, spanning from the Zillertal in the west to the Saalachtal and Zell am See in the east. To the south it is limited the Gerlospass and the upper Salzachtal, to the north by the Inntal (valley of the river Inn) up to Wrgl, to the east by the Slland, St. Johann in Tirol, Fieberbrunn, the Griessenpass and Leogang. Quite in the centre lies the famous alpine resort of Kitzbhel which is the place of the Hahnenkammrennen, one of the most spectacular ski-runs. Their mainly soft appearance make them suitable for alpine farming, hiking and skiing. Their highest peaks are concentrated to the south-western corner and reach rather modest 2500 m, e.g. the Kreuzjoch (2558 m).
