Kira Roessler

Kira Roessler (b. Aug. 13, 1962) replaced Chuck Dukowski as bass player in Black Flag. She is sister to 45 Grave's keyboardist Paul Roessler. She joined when the band heard her playing with L.A. punk group DC3. Before joining the band: she dated Henry Rollins for awhile, was majoring in economics & computer science at UCLA (subsequent tours were worked around her school schedule, which was a condition for her to join the band). Her bass playing was featured on five of Black Flag's studio albums. She remained in the band nearly until they broke up. After Black Flag, she played in Dos with husband Mike Watt and wrote some of the material for Watt's band fIREHOSE. Roessler now works as a dialogue editor on theatrical films in Los Angeles. She has a credit (as kira) on Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002).
