King's Highway (St. Augustine To Mexico)
King's Highway
was a route used in the
17th century
connecting the
Spanish
settlement of
St. Augustine, Florida
to Spanish colonies in
Mexico
. Initially the route ran from St. Augustine west through central
Florida
and may have gone through
Ft. McCoy
. Later it may have run up the east coast of Florida before turning west. Leaving Florida it ran west to
Texas
and down to Mexico.
