Kim Novak

Kim Novak (born February 13, 1933) is an American film actress. She was born Marilyn Pauline Novak in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a model before moving to Hollywood to pursue an acting career. After being seen by a talent agent for Columbia Pictures, she signed a small six month contract, took acting lessons, and appeared in several successful films. Her beautiful looks soon caught the attention of fans and critics alike. In 1955 she won a Golden Globe award as the most promising newcomer and was nominated for a BAFTA award as best actress for her role in Picnic. Her popularity became such that she made the cover of the July 29, 1957 issue of Time magazine. Kim Novak is best remembered for her role opposite James Stewart in the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, Vertigo. In recognition of her contribution to the motion picture industry, Novak has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6336 Hollywood Blvd. Novak has been married twice, from 1965 to 1966 to British actor Richard Johnson, and in 1976, to veterinarian Dr. Robert Malloy. She currently resides in Hollywood, and is working on an autobiography.
