Kilobit

A kilobit is a unit of information storage. 1 kilobit = 103 = 1000 bits or 210 = 1024 bits (see Binary prefix and kilobyte). It is used most commonly in internet connection speeds, eg 56 kilobit/s (56000 bit/s) or a broadband 512 kilobit/s (512000 bit/s). The kilobit is closely related to the kibibit, which is unambiguously equal to 210 = 1024 bits. bit << kilobit << megabit
