kid's story

"Kid's Story" is one of 9 short films in The Animatrix series that reveals more about the world of The Matrix. It was written by the Wachowski brothers and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, with animation and production design by studio4oc, Tokyo.

Plot

The Kid gets a personalized invitation from Neo, The One, to escape The Matrix. He is the first character in the series who achieves "self substantiation" (removing himself from the Matrix) through what seems to be a combination of faith and death. This short film has a very clear Gnostic motif.
