Kharn The BetrayerKhrn the Betrayer was once a loyal and subservient Space Marine in the ranks of the World Eaters. However during the Horus Heresy he turned from the path of the Emperor and instead turned to the path of Chaos. He, along with his fellow World Eaters, began to worship Khorne, the Blood God. However even before the Heresy the World Eaters, and especially Khrn, were known for their bloodthirsty tactics used in the conquests they made during the Great Crusade. It is also documented that the World Eaters used unorthodox methods of training and indoctrination and among those used include gladiatorial combat, blood drinking, and psycho-surgery. Khrn himself is rumored to have participated in many of those events. The only reason, it seems, that the World Eaters were allowed to continue these practices was because of the excellent results they produced. Khrn the Betrayer gained the majority of his fame when he assaulted the Imperial Palace on Terra with his fellow Chaos Space Marines. The fighting was so fierce that Khrn was said to fall upon a pile of bodies, at about the same time Horus fell to the Emperor. His fellow brothers though were drawn to his body for some strange reason even though they were sure he was dead. As the last Chaos elements withdrew from Earth Khrn was miraculously revived and brought back to life. Most attribute this miracle to Khorne. After that day Khrn would battle on many battlefields, receiving many wounds but none matching the one he received on Terra. Khrn gained the now famous title of "Betrayer" after an incident on Skalathrax. The World Eaters were in search of a world in the Eye of Terror after the defeat on Terra and set their sights on the world of Skalathrax that Khorne personally blessed and perverted for them. However the Emperor's Children had also taken up refuge on that world and the World Eaters sought to exert their dominance and conquer the world for themselves. After pushing the legions of the Emperor's Children from city to city victory looked imminent for the World Eaters. They needed just one more victory and Khrn wished to deliver it before nightfall. Unfortunately his fellow brothers did not seem as willing to fight. So Khrn burned many of the shelters they had and killed any who stood in his way. As he walked the streets he slaughtered any who stood before him, be it friend or foe. Ever since then the World Eaters have been broken down into small war bands. Many never forgave Khrn for his blood thirsty nature to his own brothers, but he cares not, he only wishes to spill more blood in Khorne's name.
