KesgraveKesgrave is a town in Suffolk, England, half way between Woodbridge and Ipswich. First called Gressgrava and noted in the Domesday Book, changed its name to Kesgrave in the late 15th C. A very small settlement until the 20th C. Declared a town in January 2000. Kesgrave has a large 11-18 comprehensive co-educational school. A recent study noted that 61% of the pupils cycled to the school. This is largely due to the installation of a large cycle lane through the housing estate and along the main road. The school actively encourages walking or cycling and provides bicycle storage facilities Martlesham Aerodrome, a mile from Kesgrave was a significant RAF base during WW II. It closed in 1979. In December 1959 a F-100 SuperSabre flying from the base crashed onto the village. External Links
