Kent Narrows is a census-designated place and town in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2000 census, the town had a population of 567.

Geography

Kent Narrows is located at 38°58'9" North, 76°14'25" West (38.969259, -76.240177). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.7 km² (2.6 mi²). 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 4.2 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 62.16% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 567 people, 277 households, and 188 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 223.4/km² (576.8/mi²). There are 358 housing units at an average density of 141.0/km² (364.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 96.30% White, 2.82% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. 1.23% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 277 households out of which 10.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.3% are married couples living together, 1.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.8% are non-families. 24.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.05 and the average family size is 2.38. In the CDP the population is spread out with 9.7% under the age of 18, 2.8% from 18 to 24, 19.2% from 25 to 44, 47.8% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 53 years. For every 100 females there are 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.5 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $95,239, and the median income for a family is $99,467. Males have a median income of $83,471 versus $42,813 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $48,899. 4.8% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 3.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
