Kemptville, OntarioKemptville is a town located in North Grenville in the eastern part of Ontario in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and is one of the northernmost. It is located approximately 2.5 to 3 km south of the Rideau River. It is linked with old road which used to be Highway 16 and a road linking Perth and old highway 38 (Leeds and Grenville Road 43, old Highway 43). It is now accessed by the Veterans Memorial Highway, Highway 416 with an interchange in the east on the old road to Alexandria. It became a superhighway in 1999. The town is crossed by the Rideau Canal in the north but does not pass in the south. It is about 38 km NW of Cardinal, 408 km NE of Toronto and about 130 km NE of Kingston, about 50 km S of Ottawa about 180 km W of Montreal, and E of Smiths Falls. It is the largest community in North Grenville. The Rideau River Provincial Park is situated in the north and three bridges aling with one linking with Becketts Corners are to the north. Kemptville has a school, a park, a hotel and had a factory. Much of the residential area are located in the south and east. The Pic River is founded in the eastern part. The main streets are Rideau and Van Buren. A creek name the Kemptville Creek divides Kemptville not in the centre but in the southeast where the least part of Kemptville is founded. The creek begins southwest of Kemptville and empties 4 km NE into the Rideau. The industrial factories are situated in the south and a few hunderd metres S is the small settlement of Bedell. Much of Kemptville are forested especially east and north of the community. Farmlands cover the rest of the land especially the west and the southern part of the community with some exceptions. There are some homes lying next to the farmland. The newspaper is the Progressionist. Kemptville is famous for its attractions including the Rideau River Museum which is about 3 km N near the Rideau River and the Hershey's Chocolate Factory which is famous for its chocolate being made. A dam is situated in the northeast which is a flood control of the river and supplies water to Kemptville and area?.
