Kathy Watt

Daughter of Geoff Watt. Kathy began in Little Athletics as a runner like her father, cycling from home to her track. After a time she found she was a good cyclist and began to train and compete in cycling. Watt won Australia's first gold medal of the 1992 Summer Olympics in the women's cycling road race. She then went on to finish second in the womens 3km Individual Pursuit to take the silver medal. Came to prominence not just for her cycling but for bitter infighting with her Australian team mates and the head cycling coach.
