Katharine Coman

Katharine Coman (1857-1915) Social activist, distinguished economist. Specialized in the development of the American West. Wellesley College named a professorship in her honor. Chair of the Economics Department and Dean of the College at Wellesley. Lived romantically with Katharine Lee Bates from 1890 until Coman's death from cancer in 1915.
