Kashiwa, ChibaKashiwa (柏市 Kashiwa-shi) is a city located in Chiba, Japan. As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 332,930 and the density of 4,566.31 persons per km². The total area is 72.91 km². The city was founded on September 1, 1954, as a merger of townships in the area around the train station and current city center. Through the Kashiwa International Relations Association, the city of Kashiwa maintains relationships with cities in China, Guam, and the continental United States. Since 1973, Kashiwa has been the sister city of the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California. External link
