Karen

• Karen can refer to the Karen ethnic group of south-east Asia. There are around 4 million Karen in Burma, and 350,000 in Thailand, where they are by far the largest of the hill tribes.

• The name Karen is also a Danish or Norwegian diminutive of the Greek "καθαρός" ("katharos") meaning "pure". Variants include Karin, Karyn, Katherine, and Katrine.
