Kaiser-frazierThe Kaiser Frazier Automobile Corporation was the result of a partnership between autombile executive Joseph Frazier and Industrialist Henry J. Kaiser. The company also combined the dwindling assets of the former Graham Paige automotive corporation. The concern was the first major U.S. automobile production company introduced the 1930's. In the 1940's the concern purchased the assets of the Willys Corporation of Toledo, Ohio, which also included its iconic Jeep line. Kaiser Frazier operated and produced the Kaiser and the Frazier brand automobiles from late 1940s until 1951 when the Frazier marque was discontinued. From 1952 through 1955 the name of the concern was changed to the Kaiser Automobile Corporation, which continued to build cars in the United States until 1955. Early Kaiser and Frazier automobiles were physically identical, having only unique grills, badging and interior trim. Frazier was priced slightly higher than Kaiser brand cars. Both marques sold well between 1947 and 1949 in what has been identified as the "post war sellers market", however following the introduction of other U.S. makes post war designs, interest in the makes tapered off. Unable to compete in a market dominated by General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, Kaiser and Willys production was ended in 1955. Henry J. Kaiser continued to build automobiles in Argentina using stampings and dies from discontinued full sized Kaiser and compact Willys-Aero brand cars into the 1960s. Kaiser continued to build and develop its Jeep brand products (as Kaiser Jeep) in the United States until Jeep was acquired by American Motors in the early 1970s. Production of Kaiser Frazier models was centered at Willow Run, Michigan. Willow Run was built by Henry Ford just prior to World War II, however war effort production shifted the purpose of the plant away from consumer automobiles and focused on aircraft production. Following the end of the war, Ford sold the plant to Henry Kasier. Kaiser Fazier Products Kaiser includes Custom, Deluxe, Vagabond and Manhattan sedans. Also includes the Henry J compact.
