Kainah

Kainah is a Native American tribe, part of the Blackfoot (Nitsitapii) nation. Also known as Kainai and Kainaiwa, Kainah translates directly to "Many Chiefs". The common English name for the tribe is "Blood", leading to the Kainah being known as the Blackfoot Blood tribe. At the time treaties were signed, the Kainah were situated on the Oldman, Belly and St. Mary rivers west of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Currently, the Kainah (Kainaiwa) reserve is the largest in Canada, approximately 200 kilometres south of Calgary, Alberta.
