Kabul International Airport

Kabul International Airport is located in Kabul, Afghanistan. Its IATA Airport Code is KBL. Due to international sanctions under the Taliban, the airport was all but closed, with few international flights. Following the United States attack on Afganistan after the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, the airport reopened. At first it was only for the US military and the International Security Assistance Force, a NATO-led peacekeeping force, but later for civilian airlines as well.
