K-osKheaven Brereton (born February 20, 1972 in Port of Spain, Trinidad) is a Canadian musician from Toronto, Ontario who records and performs as k-os. His music is frequently compared to Lauryn Hill because of his ability to harmonize and emcee. His stage name is pronounced "chaos", and is an acronym for "knowledge of self." In 2003, k-os was nominated for a Juno Award in both Rap Recording of the Year and New Artist of the Year categories, and managed to pick up an "International Album of the Year" at the Source Awards. The following year, Don Allen was nominated in the Video of the Year category for his work on the "Heaven Only Knows" video. His 2004 album, Joyful Rebellion, had the highest chart debut for a hip hop album in the history of the Canadian record charts. This album included the hit singles "Crabbuckit", "B-Boy Stance" and "Man I Used to Be". In 2005, k-os won three Juno Awards. "Crabbuckit" won him "Single of the Year", while the "Joyful Rebellion" album won him "Rap Record of the Year". The video for "B-Boy Stance" won "Video of the Year". His music is a colourful mix of hip hop, rock, pop, jazz, and reggae. Unlike most other hip hop artists, live musicians accompany k-os during his live shows. k-os also plays the guitar and piano for a few of his songs. Discography External links
