Jukka-Pekka Saraste

1956
) is a
Finnish
conductor
. He was chief conductor of the
Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra
from 1987-2001. He was musical director of the
Toronto Symphony Orchestra
from 1994-2001. Regarded as a champion of Finnish music, he recorded the complete works of
Jean Sibelius
with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. In August
2006
he will succeed
Andr Previn
as musical director of the
Oslo Philharmonic
