Judi Longfield

Judi Longfield (born March 23, 1947 in Timmins, Ontario) is a Canadian politician. She is a current member of the Canadian House of Commons, representing the riding of WhitbyOshawa for the Liberal Party. Longfield graduated from the North Bay Teacher's College and worked as a teacher before entering politics, serving on the Board of Governors at the Trafalgar Castle Schools for Girls. She also served as an executive assistant to Ontario Liberal MPPs Allan Furlong and Steve Mahoney, and was a campaign manager for Dalton McGuinty in the Ontario Liberal Party's 1996 leadership race. She was also involved in the National Democratic Institute during this period, and represented Canada on delegations to Romania and Guyana. She served as a councillor in the Town of Whitby from 1991 to 1997. She was first elected to parliament for the riding of WhitbyAjax in the 1997 federal election, easily defeating her Reform and Progressive Conservative opponents. She was re-elected in the 2000 election, and again with a reduced plurality in the election of 2004.
