Juan Sebastian Lach

Mexican composer, born 1970. Has played keyboards and piano in jazz and rock bands in Mexico City while also studying composition. Living in Netherlands since 2001 where he is at the Koninklijk Conservatorium doing a Masters in composition and Sonology. He has written chamber music for varied combinations of instruments, including several chamber ensembles. Also interested in electronic music and its combination with instruments. His music has been premiered in Mexico, Netherlands and Spain. Currently working on a piece for percussion and computers and also on a chamber ensemble piece to be premiered later this year. He participates also as part of an improvisers ensemble, playing piano and analog electronics. The sources of ideas for his music span from the literary to the mathematical, including the processing and messing up of other pieces and styles of music. The music is abstract with many cultural references so that many false impressions arise in the listener. Lach, Juan Sebastian
