Jthm Johnny the Homicidal Maniac Johnny The Homicidal Maniac (shortened to JTHM) is a comic book series by Jhonen Vasquez, creator of the cartoon Invader ZIM. It is about a young man named Johnny C (the titular homicidal maniac) and the voices he hears, as well as his various unfortunate victims. In the series, Johnny and the reader explore the depths of his insanity, leading to several bizarre plot twists. Most of Nny's (as Johnny prefers to be called) conversations are with the voices in his head, named Psycho-Doughboy, Reverend Meat, Nailbunny, Mr. Eff, and a fetus in a pickle jar. When he isn't busy torturing random townsfolk, Nny draws a comic entitled, "Happy Noodle Boy" for the bums of the city. Nny lives next door to a boy named Todd (or Squee, as Nny calls him), who has his own comic, titled Squee!. Squee is beaten up at school and hated by both his parents; however, he is the only person who Nny seems to like - or at least he doesn't have an insatiable urge to kill the boy. Though there is plenty of graphic violence, most of the comic involves Nny's psychological journeys, as well as his literal journeys. It is never revealed why Nny went insane, nor what he was like beforehand; this is mostly because Nny himself doesn't remember his life before he went crazy. Throughout the comic Nny is plagued with self-doubt, depression, delusions of grandeur, and the idea that he is the sole living creature in the universe. He rarely interacts with other humans for long, other than torturing them and eventually murdering them. The people that Nny does come in contact with, however, are rarely anything more than stereotypes of the worst of society - narcissistic, self-absorbed, rude, and stupid. Because of this, readers can sympathize with Nny even as he brutally slaughters entire restauraunts full of people. A word of caution: as the name implies, JTHM is full of very graphic violence, as well as explicit cursing and disturbing themes. It is most definitely not meant for kids, and those who are squeamish at the idea of blood and gore or are easily offended should steer clear.
